You probably know what Community Supported Agriculture is, right? With a CSA membership you pay up front and get a weekly box of whatever is fresh in the garden. But have you ever considered doing that with bread? Cakes & Ale, which recently moved to the square in Downtown Decatur, has launched prepaid memberships to their bakery. They’re calling it Community Supported Bread (CSB) and I don’t know of any other place that does this in the Atlanta metro. Every Saturday, you’ll pick up a “bread box” filled with sandwich loaves, pastries and a weekly surprise.
You can buy a single week at $25 a box, but subscriptions are available for monthly or quarterly membership. A single box includes 1 quick bread, 1 sliced sandwich loaf, 1 rustic loaf, 5 pastries and a weekly treat. Subscription is $100 for one month or $270 for 3-months and can be billed weekly. You can place your order in person, by phone or email thebakery@cakesandalerestaurant.com.
