Brazilian youth Lucas Moura joins PSG for €40 million in transfer blockbuster

French giants Paris Saint Germain look to have made the first massive deal of the freshly opened winter transfer window. According to ESPN on Jan. 1, 2013 the Parisians have signed 20-year-old Brazilian starlet Lucas Moura formerly of Sao Paulo for €40 million.

Moura had been a target of major English Premier League club Chelsea as well as other European sides but his new four-and-a-half year deal with the current French leaders has him securly set to start his European career in style.

ESPN quoted the player as a confident new addition as he finalized the details of his move in Qatar on Tuesday afternoon:

Everyone expects a lot from me but I have a lot of confidence. I'm glad to know (manager) Carlo Ancelotti is counting on me. I don't feel the pressure.

Choosing PSG is a challenge for me. They have a long history with Brazilian players and I hope I can add a new chapter to that story and please the fans.

Moura will hopefully start finding his way into the first team in time. The young attacking midfielder will likely battle with Argentine born Javier Pastore as another of the young South Americans looking to launch the best part of his young career at PSG.

One of the most famous Brazilian playmakers to have started his rise to fame at PSG was Ronaldinho and Moura will hope that he can have that kind of meteoric rise now that he has completed his transfer.
