Eighteen-year-old Brazilian high school student Rebecca Bernardo is auctioning off her virginity on YouTube.
Inspired by Brazilian student Catarina Migliorini who sold her virginity for $780,000 on the “Virgins Wanted” auction website in October, Bernardo is claiming she needs money to cover her mother’s medical expenses. She told CNN,
"I made up my mind right after my 18th birthday. That's when my mother suffered a stroke." Having tried various forms of employment she added, "There comes a time when you have to make decisions to get what you want. You have to be strong."
Interestingly, Bernardo reportedly received an offer from a local TV network to pay her mom’s medical bills if she cancelled the virgin auction. Bernardo declined saying she is also looking to make money to relocate. Surprise.
Published on YouTube on November 20, the video is in Portugese. Courtesy of a translator, the Brazilian girl opens her video by saying, “My name is Rebecca. I’m here to auction off my virginity.”
So far the video has amassed over 14,000 views and the highest bid is $35,000. Although Bernardo’s bid is a far cry from Migliorini’s final winning bid of $780,000, only time will tell how high it will actually go.

What does Bernardo’s mom think of her daughter’s enterprising efforts? She told CNN, “She should look for work. She shouldn’t prostitute herself.”
