Brazilian striker Samuel is the first LA Galaxy player to score for the season. On Wednesday night, the newly-acquired forward scored the lone goal of the game against the Xolos of Tijuana in a CONCACAF Champions League playoff game.
As reported by the Galaxy web site, the Angeleno team won at home with a lone goal scored by the Brazilian star Samuel against Mexican team Xolos Tijuana on Wednesday night. The match was the first leg of the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League tournament.
Samuel scored in the second half in the game against Tijuana. The goal was the first for the Angeleno team, and it was Samuel’s first goal with the LA Galaxy.
So far, so good for the Brazilian star who was signed from Brazilian team Fluminense. The striker was added to the Angeleno team to add more threat to the Galaxy attack.
Last Saturday, the Galaxy had opened their season against Real Salt Lake, but none of the Galaxy players were able to score, as the Angeleno team lost 0-1. Samuel was still impressive against the Real Salt Lake defense despite being shut out.
The second-leg will be played in Tijuana, Mexico on Tuesday, March 18. The LA Galaxy has the advantage with a only a goal ahead, thanks to Samuel.
