Los Angeles will vibrate with the beats and steps of Samba during the 13th Annual Brazilian Carnaval: Exotica at Club Nokia/LA Live. On March 2, Samba dancers, Brazilian DJs and bands will all come together for a night of authentic, sensual, and exciting dance and music. For one night only, guests will have the chance to party like they're in Brazil, take Samba lessons provided by Samba for Change and eat Brazilian cuisine from Picabu.
As the largest Carnaval on the West Coast, Brazilian Carnaval: Exotica will feature bona fide costumes, a parade, and an audience participatory drum circle. Not only will DJ Chris Brazil be spinning beats all night long, but Chalo Eduardo's All Star Band of acclaimed international touring musicians will perform Carnaval hits with a pageant of elite samba dancers and capoeira, the Afro- Brazilian martial arts dance.
For those who don't have any Samba experience, a warm-up lesson will be taught at the beginning of the event by Diane of Samba Bloco 4U. The climax of the evening occurs at midnight with a special choreographed dance to a Brazilian-inspired version of the mega-hit song Gangnam Style with Joany Macias and the Brazilian Nites Samba Dancers.
To celebrate Carnaval, don't be afraid to take risks. Don a mask, a costume and some sequins and prepare to dance the night away. Whether it's your first time or your 10th time, you will be sure to have a blast at the best Carnaval outside of Brazil.
