It has been a messy, intriguing and controversial week in IndyCar. First, Monday saw the completion of the rain-marred (on both days) Sao Paulo Indy 300.
Due to the official two-hour time limit, only 55 of the 75 scheduled laps were completed. While it was not, for once, easy, the result was very familiar. Will Power won again, with Graham Rahal registering a much-needed second-place finish and Ryan Briscoe rounding out the podium.
Outside of Power, who grabbed the points lead going into Indianapolis, the story of the weekend might be Takuma Sato. After passing Power on the outside on lap 26, Sato was seemingly in-line for his first career win. Then, on lap 35, most of the front-runners pitted under yellow (thanks to the rain, this was a prominent feature in the first half of the event), KV Racing, hoping for many more laps of yellow, hoped Sato could run the event with NO fuel stop. The gamble failed, relegating Sato to eighth. Still, it was a solid, encouraging run for the oft-underperforming KV.
Outside, of Sato's daring move on Power, there weren't any other on-track lead changes, but battles took place for every other spot on the track. Sure, it was a messy weekend, but it did have moments.

The rest of the week has been dominated by 2012, namely the issue of multiple aero kits. In short, the owners don't want them for 2012. Fans, sick of spec racing, voiced their displeasure, mostly online. The choice is IndyCar's to make, but upon further analysis, the owners do seem to have a legitimate case. Whether it is the RIGHT one can be debated.

In a fit of poor judgment, Donald Trump had been chosen to drive the pace car for the Indy 500 a few weeks ago. In a fit of good judgment, that will NOT happen. Four-time 500 winner AJ Foyt will now, rightly, take over those duties.
