An express NJ Transit train Saturday experienced something a bit unusual, when a brawl on the train broke out and eventually 16 people were tossed off in East Rutherford, N.J. NJ.com shared the details on March 16.
The NJ Transit train had left Secaucus about 10 minutes before the brawl on the train. The incident happened around 4:20 p.m. on the Bergen/Port Jervis line, and the fight forced the train to stop at the East Rutherford station. Luckily there were no major injuries reported, but 16 passengers were ejected from the train. Two received summons for disorderly conduct and one person received medical care at the scene.
The train proceeded about 20 minutes later, and no other trains were impacted by the incident. So far there is no indication what caused the brawl on the train, but The Inquistr notes that this isn't the first time the NJ Transit has had rowdy St. Patrick's Day weekend passengers. Whether this train brawl was related to weekend festivities and alcohol or not remains to be seen.
