Brave mom shoots intruder 5 times, saves family

A brave mother shot an intruder 5 times and almost killed the man after he broke into their home on Friday afternoon. The woman, who protected her two children with a .38 revolver while her husband was at work, is now being called a hero.

On Friday, a woman (who’s name has not been released to the public) ran to a crawlspace near the home office when she heard a loud noise coming from the front of the house.

Turns out, it was an intruder breaking into the home in broad daylight. Likely thinking no one was home, the man (Paul Ali Slater) was shot 6 times by the mother of two, getting hit with 5 bullets.

Slater was hot a couple times in his face and neck area, causing him to collapse to the ground with blood all over the floor.

“[The intruder] opens the closet door and finds himself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver,” said Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman, who later added that Slater was “face down, crying” after being shot by the woman.

This 37-year-old mom is clearly seen as a hero for defending her family in a scary crisis situation. Still, there will be many who continue to read stories such as these and feel that guns are not the answer. Wanting tougher gun control laws, many feel that weapons inside the home often hurt innocent people more than it helps.

Wherever you fall in that political discussion, it’s clear that the mom who shot an intruder 5 times, hitting him in the head and neck multiple times, is happy she had a gun to protect herself that fateful afternoon on Friday.
