Last week, after Brant Daugherty finished with "Dancing With the Stars" he went home to relax. However, his night was anything but relaxing when he arrived at his apartment building. Brant was confronted by a man wielding a gun. He ordered Brant to hand over his bag of possessions at gunpoint.
"After the show I got dropped off and was walking up to my apartment building and a man followed me up with a gun and told me to give him my stuff," Daugherty told PEOPLE.
The mugger made off with Brant’s workout pants, two T-shirts, dance shoes, a toothbrush, and his cell phone. Brant called the police about the incident when he finally reached a phone.
No harm came to Brant, but the incident rocked him to his core. "You don't really know how to react to something like that," he said. "You're laughing one minute, then you kind of get a little overwhelmed and start crying. Then you're laughing again."
Apparently, Brant used the experience to his advantage. Brant and Peta Murgatroyd's performance last Monday on "Dancing With the Stars" competition received the best scores of the evening. They scored 27 out of 30 points as they danced the quickstep routine. Two weeks ago, Brant and his partner, Peta, tied for sixth place with another couple.
