Brandy hasn’t exactly been burning through the billboard charts lately, but the singer’s recent near-empty stadium performance was quite the embarrassment, reports MSN on Aug. 22.
The 34-year-old recording artist, whose full name is Brandy Rayana Norwood, found herself singing to a stadium in South Africa that holds 90,000 people. For this particular show, a large living room would have been more appropriate, since only about 40 people stuck around to see her.
Brandy performed on Aug. 17 at the FNB stadium in Soweto for Mandela Sports and Culture Day. She was supposed to be the surprise headline act, and while she is popular in South Africa, concertgoers who had packed the stadium during the day had all but left, thinking the show was over.
The 40 or so that stuck around were treated to a mini set by Brandy, who sulked and walked off the stage after performing just two songs.
To date, Brandy's camp has yet to issue any statement about her stadium walk-off. Whether she was to play for 40 or 40,000, shouldn't she have stuck around, finished the set and showed everyone what they missed? She would have been hailed as a true pofessional, not another diva baby.
