The 40th annual American Music Awards took place on Nov. 18, 2012, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Here is what this American Music Awards star said backstage in the American Music Awards press room.
BRANDY
Can you talk about your new album “Two Eleven” and what inspired it?
The new album “Two Eleven” is just about my life. And it’s just great to be back doing R&B music again and really contributing to that genre and just doing what I love to do. I’m in a happy place, and I’m thankful. I’m happy to be here tonight.
What do you do when you have trouble sleeping?
I play World of Warcraft. I talk to my family and friends. I stay up and try to envision what I’m going to do in a place like this, so it can go smooth.
Will “Two Eleven” appeal more to your older fans or new fans?
I think the new album is versatile. It’s reminiscent to what people are used to hearing from me, for my older fans. And then the new fans, they have the gritty and the edgy sound to vibe to on the album. And I love it that it’s so colorful.
There’s a song on there for everybody. I’m really, really proud of it. I haven’t been this proud of my work for a long time. I’m really grateful that it sounds the way it sounds.
