This fall, Superman Returns to television, as Brandon Routh joins CW's Arrow -- but not as the Man of Steel.
According to AccessHollywood.com, the actor will be playing the recurring role of Ray Palmer, a scientist/inventor who will run Queen Consolidated, but his main interest will be in the company's Applied Sciences Division, which could lead him into becoming the superhero the Atom -- as well as the possibility of joining Team Arrow.
Besides Superman Returns, Routh had a recurring role on NBC's Chuck, and was the lead in the supernatural action horror-comedy Dylan Dog: Dead of Night.
Also coming (back) to the CW this fall is Robbie Amell, who joins The Flash in the recurring role of Firestorm, aka Ronnie Raymond, a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs who is the fiance of Dr. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker); according to TVGuide.com, the character will play a pivotal role of Barry Allen becoming the Flash.
Robbie Amell, who used to be one of CW's The Tomorrow People, is the real-life cousin of Stephen Amell, who plays the Arrow, the alter-ego of Starling City billionaire Oliver Queen. Arrow led to The Flash, the spin-off with Grant Gustin as Central City crime scene investigator Barry Allen, whose nine-month coma gave him the ability to super-speed; he then decides to use his newfound powers to fight evil and injustice as a superhero.
The Flash premieres Tuesday, October 7 at 9pm, while Arrow begins his aim for season three Wednesday, October 8 at 8pm on the CW.
