A new outdoor sports show debuts this upcoming weekend in Harrisburg. The nine-day Great American Outdoor Show celebrates hunting, fishing and outdoor traditions that are treasured by millions of Americans and their families. The new show replaces the popular Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show which was canceled last year after a backlash from gun owners and sportsmen groups who voiced their displeasure with the shows organizer to ban assault weapons.
The NRA has stepped in to sponsor the new show to be held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center, which is good economic news for the Harrisburg area. According to the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show every year brought in about $44 million in direct spending and close to $80 million when you included restaurants, hotels, gas stations and area shopping to the Harrisburg area.
The show features nearly 1,000 exhibitors ranging from shooting manufacturers to outfitters to fishing boats and RV's, and archery to art. There will be a concert, fundraising dinners, speaking events, archery competitions, celebrity appearances, seminars, demonstrations and more!
General admission to the show is: $12, senior $10 and $6 for ages 6-12. Click here for ticket information.
Show Hours: Saturdays 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Sundays 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and weekdays 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
The NRA is also sponsoring a country music concert which is headlined by Brantley Gilbert on February 8 at the Large Arena. Doors for the concert open at 6:30 p.m. and the opening act starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the show are $35 and $30.
