Those folks producing electric motorcycles are serious about going mainstream. The latest proof is Brammo's announcement today that they have acquired Quantyaparx, a company that runs "hire and ride activity centers" exclusively for electric dirtbikes. To be renamed BrammoParx, the facilities are currently in operation in Germany, Austria, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
So what is a hire and ride center? Brammo describes them this way: "BrammoParx are private tracks designed and built for Brammo 6 speed electric motorcycles. They provide a course where you can rent and ride Brammo all electric motorcycles in a safe environment. Thanks to their zero emissions and near silent electric motor, BrammParx can be in either rural or more urban settings."
Craig Bramscher, founder and CEO of Brammo said, "We are excited about this acquisition and we will be introducing our latest 6 speed off-road Brammo motorcycles - the Engage and the Encite - to BrammoParx locations at the earliest opportunity. We will also be making the BrammoParx franchise opportunity available in other countries, including the USA." Bramscher continued, "We know the demand for off-road parks is growing and KOM has both a unique business model and a highly successful track record in this market."
Can you imagine a dirtbike park without neighbors complaining about the noise? There's little wonder that electric motorcycles are making their earliest inroads in the dirtbiking community.
