Lat Ware, DigiPen graduate, recently started a Kickstarter campaign for a new game based on controlling objects with your brain's electrical activity. On March 12, it was announced that the Kickstarter campaign was a major success and raised over $40,000 with only a few days left to go. Production could start any day now and could possibly be released on all 8th generation consoles.
It's already confirmed that the game, when finished, will run on Windows and Mac OS X. Ware said that he would love to bring the game to consoles, but it's too much of a "hurdle" for a small team. Since the game is already seeing strong demand, it's likely that a secondary production team as well as a few publishers are looking to bring the game to Nintendo's Wii U, Sony's PS4 and Microsoft's next Xbox system. With the game being featured on all 3 consoles as well as computers, the game could bring a revolutionary wave of gameplay.
Just like how Nintendo was successful with the Wii's motion control capabilities, Lat Ware could be extremely successful with his series of brain-controlled games. If the game was released for consoles, it would be expected to cost much more than the average $60 due to gamers needing a headset developed by NeuroSky. With this complex headset, the game could retail for just under $100 or slightly above. Wii U owners would be able to take advantage of the 2nd screen and become even more immersed in the gameplay.
Just how the 'Skylanders' series was extremely popular even though you had to purchase extra peripherals, this new way of gameplay could change gaming forever. If the game is released for the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox 720, all 3 companies could very well develop systems for the 9th generation that feature the same form of brain-controlled gameplay. New handheld systems would be integrated into a headset and you could play a game just by looking into the display. The future of gaming is here and it's looking or amazing than ever. Within the next 20 years, we'll laugh at 7th and 8th generation systems and be completely immersed in virtual reality and games controlled by the minds of gamers.
