Revealed today April 29, 2014 in an article by Trick Jarrett on DailyMTG.com, Brago, King Eternal is one of the newest cards from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert Magic: The Gathering expansion set Conspiracy. This rare legendary creature can make a dramatic affect on the battlefield, and joins Dack Fayden as another highly anticipated card from the set. Let's take a look:
Brago, King Eternal
Legendary Creature - Spirit (Rare)
When Brago, King Eternal deals combat damage to a player, exile any number of target nonland permanents you control, then return those cards to the battlefield under their owner's control.
"My rule persists beyond death itself."
Brago, King Eternal allows you to blink as many of your non-land permanents you control as you want. Restoration Angel was one of this author's favorite cards, allowing you to save creatures from removal spells or gain card advantage from blinking a Snapcaster Mage or Huntmaster of the Fells. Although Brago, King Eternal's ability cannot be used as an instant, it can potentially have a much larger impact on the game.
Brago, King Eternal makes a great addition to the Evade and Shimmer deck from Duel Decks: Venser vs. Koth, which features many notable cards to abuse with Brago, King Eternal such as Oblivion Ring, Sunblast Angel, and Sphinx of Uthuun. It's the Evasive Maneuvers deck from Commander (2013 Edition) which is really chock full of cards for Brago, King Eternal to combo with. Karmic Guide is an MVP from the deck for you to blink, however one really exciting thing about Brago, King Eternal is that you aren't limited to just creatures. That means you're able to redeploy enchantments like Control Magic onto tastier targets.
Going green allows you access to several notable cards including: Armada Wurm, Trostani's Summoner, Thragtusk, and Primeval Titan. Because you'll be flickering your creatures often, cards with an ability that triggers when a creature enters or leaves the battlefield such as Trostani, Selesnya's Voice may also warrant an inclusion. Bant will also allow you to draw a massive amount of cards with Prime Speaker Zegana and exile threats with Luminate Primordial. Whatever color combination you do decide to run, don't forget to throw in a Deadeye Navigator for good measure.
We're as giddy as a schoolgirl to get our hands on Brago, King Eternal and explore all the possible interactions. How will you use Brago, King Eternal?
