Braggin Rights at the KCBS BBQ and Bluegrass Cook Off in Arthur, IL

Follow the lingering scents of grilled BBQ down the streets of Arthur on October 7th and 8th. For the weekend, BBQ amateurs and professionals will be competing in the big cook-off. The over-all winner will receive $1,000 while the runner-up gets $500. Residents and visitors can follow their noses and get a taste from some of the freshly grilled BBQ that will be available for lunch around the noon hour. Dine on BBQ, beef or whatever you can get your hands messy with! Don't forget the napkins and a lemon shake-up too!

The unusually warm fall weather hopes to draw visitors and competitors from all over. Some will simply bring their pick-up truck and a few grills, while others bring their motor homes complete with commercial sized grills. Some take their grilling pretty seriously! Normally around 50 professional teams compete for the huge pot of money while around 15 backyard amateurs usually grill up for the $500.

Not only will there be the scents of BBQ and grill lingering in the warm fall air, but some Bluegrass jam sessions will be happening too. Bring up your lawnchair, enjoy a BBQ sandwich and hoe down to some down-town Bluegrass music. Bring your family, the kids and some friends for a relaxing afternoon of relishing in fresh grilled BBQ and listening to sounds coming from the soul.
