Brady Quinn looks for a fresh start in Denver

“It's a great opportunity for me...”
“It will be a fresh start for me...”
“...it should be a lot of fun.”

These are the words out of the mouth of an embattled Brady Quinn as he spoke with the Cleveland Plain Dealer about his trade to the Denver Broncos. The Cleveland Browns announced that they traded QB Brady Quinn on Sunday for fullback Peyton Hillis and a conditional pick in 2012.

The Dublin (OH) native is making the best of his change of address saying, “Anytime you're in a situation like this, all you can really do is just go in there and learn the system, get to know your teammates and coaches, everyone else, and that's really my focus right now.”

As a star quarterback for Dublin Coffman high school, Quinn amassed 4,349 passing yards during his junior and senior seasons. He had a record of 17-7, threw for 56 touchdowns, and led his team to a state finals appearance in 2001. The well-rounded Quinn was also a baseball standout at Coffman, a member of Young Life, and named to the Who's Who Among America High School Students.

His success continued at Notre Dame, winning 29 games during his four seasons with the Irish, and breaking 36 school records.

All of that success seemed to come to a crashing halt after Quinn was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2007. Some would argue that he never got a fair shot to live up to his professional potential in Cleveland. Others disagree and say that he had plenty of opportunities to prove his ability to be under center for the Browns. Last season, Quinn only completed 53 percent of his passes for 1,339 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

After looking back at Quinn’s road to the NFL, it is easy to see why he might be a little excited about a change of scenery, a fresh start, and according to a Bronco spokesperson - the opportunity to compete for the starting job in Denver.
