Has been imprisoned for 1000 days. Try him. He is kept in isolation and solitary. Bring him to trial.
This is torture. Period. If this were happening under George W., the progressive types would be vocal and challenging. Nonstop.
President Obama. This is horrific treatment. Even a Republican can discern that Manning is not going to talk: to give up accomplices or supply further information.
What about our Constitution? Presumption of innocence and the right to a speedy trial are part of our citizens' fundamental rights.
Ironically, the Amendment in the least amount of jeopardy is the Second. Privacy, right to vote, all issues relating back to justice and frankly, dodging Drone strikes seem to much more pressing issues.
President Obama must feel his fate has been proscribed. What is left after all the killing, lying and the Faustian deal with the financial sector? Not to digress but a pro fracking guy for the Department of Energy and a high-ranking Monsanto executive appointed to the FDA? What is this, opposite world?
Back to Bradley Manning. Give him his day in court. Provide cellmates. Stop the inmate exile. Wait, let him out. Let him go free.
The same process is occurring at Gitmo and God knows what type of torture is carried out in our name in foreign prisons that this country utilizes. Outsourcing now extends to ignoring the Geneva Convention.
The previous Commander-in-Chief had the attention span of a gnat. Maybe he would have tired of Manning. Or since the prisoner doesn’t look Muslim, might have moved forward on his case.
Such scenarios can only be pure speculation. What is certain is that many voices would have risen, consistently and constantly, on Manning’s behalf.
This column has an idea. RELEASE HIM. Whistleblowing is not a crime.
