After an epic Asbury Park 5K this past weekend, summer road racing continues with the 17th Annual Bradley Beach 5k to be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the Borough of Bradley Beach, New Jersey.

The race has gained popularity among runners attracting large fields in the past several years and a field of about 1000 is expected this year.

Saturday, August 16, 5k, Bradley Beach 5k, Bradley Beach, New Jersey

The traditional start had been by the large gazebo on the promenade. Unfortunately that gazebo was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. But the promenade is intact and most of the ocean front has been restored to the way it was before the storm less the gazebo.

The course is flat and fast with the start and finish on Ocean Avenue. There will be awards for the top finishers and the top 3 in 10 year age groups. The Clarence Lurch Award will be presented to the first 80 year plus finisher. Participants can use their race bib number to get free entry to the beach on that day.

Kid’s races are scheduled for Friday evening August 15, 2014 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Runners can get registration information on the Bradley Beach Web Site.

Registration will also be available on Friday, August 16th between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Bradley Beach Fire Department, 815 Main Street, Bradley Beach, N.J. Post registration will be available starting at 7 a.m. until 8 a.m.
