Things are becoming so violent across the USA and worldwide it appears even the rich and famous aren't certain if there's anyplace safe to go these days. This concern became clearer for everyone when Brad Pitt was attacked and hit in the face at the "Maleficent" premiere as reported upon by The Hollywood Reporter on May 28, 2014. Vitalii Sediuk, a Ukrainian prankster, has been taken into police custody and is being accused of attacking Pitt at the red carpet premiere of "Maleficent."
A Los Angeles police department spokesperson said while Pitt was at the El Capitan Theatre on the red carpet at around 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday a male jumped over the barricade and made contact with him. Sediuk has been arrested and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. He is being held at the LAPD's Hollywood station with bail set at $20,000. Witnesses have reported they saw a man approach Pitt and either punch or slap him in the face. Security guards at the Hollywood Boulevard theater quickly took Sediuk away in handcuffs.
Sediuk is known for his red carpet shenanigans. He made the news after Will Smith slapped him for attempting to kiss him at the Russian premier of "Men in Black III." At the "How to Train Your Dragon 2" premiere at Cannes he made the news for hiding under America Ferrera's dress. He was also cited for aggressively hugging Bradley Cooper's crotch at this year's SAG Awards. Sediuk was also arrested for storming the Grammys stage during Adele's acceptance speech.
Pitt really was punched in the face while he was walking the red carpet at Hollywood's El Capitan theater on Wednesday night reports The Huffington Post. Pitt had been attending the premier of "Maleficent" with Angelina Jolie, who stars in the film, when the incident occurred. Although Pitt appears not to have been harmed this is a very troubling incident. Perhaps Pitt and Jolie should take off for a vacation in some secluded place like Tahiti to help them recover emotionally from the shock of this assault.
