Brad Pitt tries to clean up his comments about marriage to Jennifer Aniston

In the latest issue of Parade Magazine, Brad Pitt made some negative comments about being married to Jennifer Aniston that he now regrets.

Brad now claims his comments in Parade were misinterpreted.

In his recent interviewg on the Today Show, Brad tried to clarify, or put a positive spin on his comments in the Parade magazine article in which he trashed his 4-year marriage to Jennifer Aniston, while praising his relationship with Angelina Jolie.

Brad Pitt's comments about his dissatisfaction with his marriage to Jennifer Aniston as well as his feeble attempts to smooth things over, were made during the promotional tour for his new movie, Moneyball, which opens in theaters today.

What Brad Pitt Said About his Marriage to Jennifer Aniston

During their marriage, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston were known as “Hollywood’s golden couple.”

But the comments Brad made about his marriage prove that things are not always what they seem to be.

Regarding his marriage to Jennifer Aniston, this is what Brad had to say:

“It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself.

"I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t."

Then Brad goes on to praise Angelina Jolie with whom he became involved while filming the movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and has been with for the past 6 years.

Regarding his decision to divorce Jennifer Aniston so he could be with Angelina Jolie, this is what Brad Pitt had to say:

"I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much.

One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her.

How Brad Pitt Tries to Explain Away His Derogatory Remarks

The comments above sound suspiciously like Brad Pitt is trying to justify leaving Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie, and that it was somehow Jennifer Aniston’s fault.

What Brad didn’t count on was the backlash and harsh criticism from Jennifer Aniston’s PR people and the countless fans who sided with Jennifer in their break-up and subsequent divorce. Brad insists that his comments were misinterpreted, and attempts to clarify his comments with the statement below.

"It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly.

“The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself – and that, I am responsible for.”

Maybe Brad feels that if he portrays himself as having been unhappy in his marriage to Jennifer, people will understand why he left.

But being unhappy in a relationship is no excuse for a husband to cheat.on his wife. According to Gossip Cop, Brad tried to set the record straight in his interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show by saying:

“All I know is that my point was, the best thing I’d done as a father is be sure that my kids have a good mother.”

“That’s all I was, or am, trying to say. It has no reference to the past. AndI think it’s a shame that I can’t say something nice about Angie without Jen being drug in. You know, she doesn’t deserve it.”

Later, Brad adds,

“I don’t want them to say anything bad like that about Jen. She’s a dear friend of mine.”

Ok magazine is reporting that Jennifer Aniston was annoyed at Brad’s remark. But according to Gossip Cop, when Matt Lauer asked Brad if Jennifer called him after controversy surrounding his remarks, he said no.

Us Weekly said Jennifer Aniston's publicists 'went ballistic' over Brad’s remarks last week and read him the “riot act.”

Regarding the persistent tabloid speculation about his relationship with Angelina Jolie, Brad said
