Some thought the day would never come but it has. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally made their nearly decade-long relationship official by tying the knot in France according to a report on Wetpaint Aug. 28.
A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the news, revealing the couple married at Chateau Miravel, an estate they own in Correns, France on Aug. 23. The couple purchased the 1,200-acre estate in 2012 for $60 million after spending many years vacationing there.
Jolie and Pitt began dating in 2005, having spent time together while on the set of their film, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” They fell in love and became engaged seven years later. Now, the couple is parents to three adopted children — Maddox, 13, Pax, 10 and Zahara, 9, and three biological children — Shiloh, 8 and 6-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
CBS News confirms were not only in attendance but participated. Maddox and Pax escorted Jolie down the aisle while Zahara and Vivienne threw flower petals. Shiloh and Knox shared the responsibility of ring bearer.
Jolie, 39, and Pitt, 50, had a small service with friends and family in a tiny chapel. The same judge who granted their California marriage license also performed the ceremony.
Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005 while this makes the third marriage for Jolie. She was previously married to Jonny Lee Miller from 1996 to 1999 and Billy Bob Thornton from 2000 to 2003. Hopefully, this is the one that sticks for both of them. We wish them all the best!
