Tommy Baldwin Racing has selected a veteran crew chief to lead its new part-time NASCAR Nationwide Series team with its stable of young drivers in 2012. Brad Parrott will call the shots from atop the pit box for TBR's eight-race Nationwide program that includes Ryan Blaney, Ryan Truex and Bobby Santos as drivers of the No. 36 entry.
"I'm glad to be a part of TBR," Parrott said. "(Car owner) Tommy (Baldwin) has a long history in the sport, as do I," Parrott said. "I have been a crew chief in the Nationwide Series since 2002 and won 18 races. With the experience that I have, I look forward to bringing a young team with young drivers to the winners circle. I'm thrilled to work with Ryan Blaney, Ryan Truex and Bobby Santos, as well as our partners."
Parrott's racing resume includes a Nationwide Series stint as crew chief at Roush Fenway Racing, where he led drivers including Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards to multiple trips to victory lane. He is also a winning crew chief at the Sprint Cup level.
"Brad has been in the sport for many years in many different positions," Baldwin said. "His variety of experiences will help us build the Nationwide team from the ground up, in addition to assisting with some of the Cup program."
Blaney will be the driver Parrott will work with most in a competition environment, as he is slated to drive the No. 36 car in six of the eight Nationwide races TBR plans to compete in. Truex is scheduled to drive the car in one race -- the season opener at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 25. Santos is also slated for only one event -- the July 6 event at Daytona.
