Grammy 2012 news
In Grammy news, props go out to The Band Perry for their nomination in the all-genre category for Best New Artist. Even though the Academy didn't vote them as the winner in the category, they're still winners in our book.
Country stars that did get some Grammy love included Taylor Swift, who picked up both the Best Solo Country Performance and Best Country Song for "Mean." The Civil Wars snagged the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Barton Hollow." All three of these awards were presented pre-broadcast. The one Country category that was shown on the live show was the Best Country Album award, which went to Lady Antebellum for Own the Night.
Country wasn't absent from the live show, as Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson performed their Grammy-nominated song, "Don't You Wanna Stay," Taylor Swift gave the audience a feisty version of her Grammy-winning song, "Mean," preceded by The Civil Wars brief performance of their Grammy-winning "Barton Hollow."
Another duet was the performance of Carrie Underwood and Tony Bennett, singing "It Had To Be You." Lastly, but definitely not least, the moving tribute to Lifetime Achievement Award winner Glen Campbell by The Band Perry, who performed an acoustic version of "Gentle on My Mind," and Blake Shelton, who gave us "Southern Nights. Glen Campbell capped it all off with a performance of his big hit, "Rhinestone Cowboy."
