Country music headed to London and Dublin for a musical celebration according to Metro UK on March 18, 2014. Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Rascall Flatts, The Dixie Chicks, The Band Perry, Chris Young, Dierks Bentley and Martina McBride took part in the “Country to Country Festival” at The 02 Arena in London and The O2 Arena in Dublin with 50,000 fans checking out the performances.
Paisley celebrated St. Paddy’s Day during his Dublin show by using a green Sharpie to paint a green shamrock on the front of his hat and made a fan feel the luck of the Irish by giving it away at the end of his performance. Paisley also discussed country music in America, country artists and even joked about Justin Bieber during a press conference.
Paisley said “They scratch their heads in America just a bit about us in the same way I think they do about many different niche-type things, but the thing is, we’re not a niche, but we are a small amount of people we’re a little town where a bunch of hillbillies strike it rich for a time here and there. I’m just proud to be a part of it, I always wanted to be.”
Paisley described growing up by saying “I grew up listening to Johnny Cash records and some of that’s an old-fashioned thing, but in the old-fashioned sense, we sang about stuff that’s really hip now, such as Johnny Cash sang about drug abuse, and he sang about adultery and all these things that are really popular now!”
The Bieber comparison was made when Paisley added “We were way ahead of the game! Have you watched Justin Bieber lately? He is living a George Jones song! If he needed a soundtrack for what’s going on with him, or Miley let me know!”
Paisley is keeping the European leg of his tour going and the “Country to Country Festival” will be making a return for a third year on March 7, 2015 and March 8, 2015 in London with tickets going on sale March 21, 2014.
