Brad Keselowski wins Nationwide pole at Kentucky

It just so happens that the two triple-duty (Camping World Truck, Nationwide and Sprint Cup) drivers at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta this weekend, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch, claimed the front-row starting spots for Friday night's John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race with the two fastest times in the third and final round of qualifying at the track on Saturday afternoon. Brad Keselowski claimed the pole for the second NASCAR event of the weekend with a 30.802 second/175.313 mph lap. Busch, who put on a dominating performance on Thursday night en route to the win in the Camping World Truck Series race at Kentucky, will start second after posting a 30.990 second/174.250 mph lap in the final round of qualifying.

A couple more Sprint Cup Series regular claimed the second-row spots on the starting grid for the Nationwide race, with Paul Menard qualifying third and Matt Kenseth fourth. Brian Scott was the highest-qualifying Nationwide championship-eligible driver, qualifying fifth.

Menard was the fastest in the first round of qualifying with a 30.705 second/175.867 mph lap, followed by Ryan Blaney and Regan Smith. Blaney moved to the top of the scoring pylon in road two with a 30.768 second/175.507 mph lap, followed by Keselowski and Menard.

Twelve drivers advanced to the third round to set the top-12 on the starting grid. Qualifying sixth through 12th were Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Ty Dillon, Blaney, Elliott Sadler, Kyle Larson and last weekend's winner, Brendan Gaughan.

Forty-four drivers were on the original entry list for Friday night's race, but there was one withdrawal, leaving 43 drivers attempting to qualify for the 40 available spots. The three drivers who failed to make the race include Chad Boat, Kevin Lepage and Tommy Joe Martins.
