Brad Goreski's personal stylist career improvement in a Brad Brad world

Brad Goreski might not be a household name from the San Francisco Bay to New York City just yet, but fans of Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project know all about the former assistant to the famous personal stylist. He has been doing some special personal career improvement recently for himself.

Goreski is venturing out on a new solo venture, after a split with Zoe. He's getting his own show called It's a Brad, Brad World which will follow him as he sets out to establish himself in the unusual profession.

What is a personal stylist? Basically, it is someone that a client will hire to give them tips on fashion and helps them to establish a signature style or image that they can use to help them stand out from the crowd in their field. You might have also heard such a person referred to as an image consultant or a personal shopper.

The best way to get a job like this is to become educated in fashion. A college degree is not necessary, but certainly it could not hurt to actually understand the ins and outs of the history of the industry. Getting an internship with someone already in the field will expose you to the environment and help you to build a portfolio that you can ultimately use to get your own clients.

It will also help you start making the necessary connections that will provide you with personal referrals, the bread and butter of service industries of this nature. If you're a shy individual who doesn't enjoy being in the spotlight, then this is not the job for you.

Brad Goreski is a larger-than-life personality with amazing interpersonal skills and that's the biggest reason for his rise to the top so quickly. He has been calledthe "Zelig of Fashion Week" by the New York Times and "a style icon for [the] new generation" by Elle magazine.

In this industry, you have to be able to make a name for yourself before others will let you try and make a name for them. Only then can you style someone else and improve your own career and professional resume. Goreski's book Born to be Brad is set for a February release.
