After nine years together, powerhouse couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally tied the knot. Their representative confirms that the pair was married on Saturday in a small chapel in Correns, France, according to the Associated Press.
The ceremony was small and private, with their six children taking part. Their eldest sons Maddox and Pax walked Jolie down the aisle, while Shiloh and Knox were ring bearers. Zahara and Vivienne were the flower girls.
The couple had obtained a marriage license from a judge in California, who also traveled to France to conduct the ceremony.
Perhaps it will be "third time's a charm" for 39-year old Jolie, who has been married twice before. In the late 90s, she was married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller for three years. She later wed Billy Bob Thornton in 2000; their marriage also ended after three years. This is the second marriage for Pitt, 50, who was married to Jennifer Aniston for five years.
In 2012, Pitt talked to "The Hollywood Reporter" about marrying his longtime love:
We’d actually like to, and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.
The couple met on the set of their movie, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," in 2004.
