BP oil spill: BP told to release information to public faster; will they comply?
Admiral Thad Allen has told BP that they need to provide information to the public faster, but will they comply? To say that BP has a problem with transparency is an understatement.
During the first weeks of the spill the public was kept in the dark. When BP announced live feeds on their website it seemed a game of ‘musical feeds’ instead of musical chairs ensued.
Trying to find the right video that was streaming live was nearly impossible. And when BP announced they would install the ‘top hat’ on the broken well, the public was kept in the dark for hours, only the next day would BP announce that they hadn’t even begun the procedure.
Now the blackout continues. Is there a leak, is there seepage, how much oil has actually flowed into the Gulf of Mexico, is BP burning sea turtles alive, are first responders employed by BP being ordered to stay away from media, are crews pouring in darker colored sand over oil stained beaches? The list goes on and on, and many ask why the Obama administration has put up with as much as they have.
Nonetheless, Admiral Thad Allen has ordered BP to provide information quickly and to report the truth of what is going on under the sea with the oil well.
Why isn’t BP required to provide real time updates regarding the oil spill with live camera feeds and someone narrating, 24/7 what is going on? Do you believe there is a media blackout in the BP oil spill?
Doesn’t the public have a right to know what is happening in our Gulf waters?
