R&B lovers can rejoice over the comeback of Motown Philly soul singers, R&B group Boyz II Men, who according to You Know I Got Soul on Monday June 2, will be releasing a new album set to be released on September 30.
The album, titled "Collide" is the group's latest project since 2011's album "Twenty". No word as of yet as to how many tracks will be included on the album but, PerezHilton.com provided the platform for fans to hear an exclusive preview of two of the tracks set to be included on the forthcoming album.
"Better Half" and "Diamond Eyes" are the first tracks off the album and viewers of ABC's 'The Bachelorette" will get the chance to watch the cameo of Shawn, Wanya and Nate as the perform alongside "the bachelors and the bachelorettes" live on stage.
Sheknows.com sat down for an interview with 1/3 of the group, Shawn Stockman, where he talked a little about the collaboration between the group and TV show, the album and the future of the group.
SK: did this collaboration come about?
Shawn Stockman: It's a perfect collaboration because our songs have always been all about love and romance and relationships. So it was definitely a great date idea that the producers on the show wanted to do with us. It was fun to have all of the contestants there with us on stage at our concert. Sharing the music is what it's all about.
SK: We understand you'll be performing brand-new songs from your upcoming album Collide as well. What can you tell us about that?
SS: We can't wait to share Collide with the fans. The album will be out Sept. 30 through our label, BMG. Two of the songs, "Better Half" and "Diamond Eyes," will actually be showcased on The Bachelorette, so fans should tune in for a little sneak peek of the album.
SK: What does the future hold for Boyz II Men?
SS: In addition to Collide, we always have a residency at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. That has been a lot of fun for us, and we'll be there on weekends through the end of 2014. I also just opened a new cycling gym, Beatbike, in Los Angeles that I'm really excited about.
Although the group has been keeping busy with performances aboard cruise ships, touring with 90s boy bands New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees and making guest appearances on shows like, "How I Met Your Mother," the group has not released any Billboard top-charters as of lately, matching the success of prior singles like "End of the Road," "I'll Make Love to You," or the hit that set of their career, "Motown Philly."
Hopefully, the new album will put the group back on top of the R&B charts. Until then "Better Half" and "Diamond Eyes" are available for pre-order on itunes.
