Ready for some warm weather fun nearby? Grab your swim suit and head north. Yup, north, to Michigan’s first ProSlide SuperLOOP™, a new, extreme body slide with a 360-degree loop, that officially opened today (Dec. 6) at Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain Resort.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new half-million dollar attraction took place on December 4. Following the ceremony, guests on hand for the event were able to don a suit and enjoy the ride.

Patrick Patoka, Avalanche Bay director, says the slide's first riders have been elated with The Big Couloir. “Riders are excited, laughing, giving high fives, and having an all-around great time,” says Patoka. “The Big Couloir provides everything a great slide should, combining anticipation with a free fall sensation and an adrenaline rush. We wanted a new thrilling ride for Avalanche Bay, and we found it in The Big Couloir.”

The Big Couloir experience begins in a launch capsule and features a trap door that drops away and propels riders into an enclosed tunnel traveling with G-force at speeds up to 38 feet per second through the length of the 360 degree SuperLOOP™ before slowing with a splash. The attraction welcomes riders 48 inches and taller.

Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark opened in May 2005 and continues to draw top honors including being named a top ten indoor waterpark in the U.S. by Budget Travel and featured among America’s coolest indoor waterparks by Travel + Leisure. The 88,000 square foot waterpark boasts aquatic adventures for all ages including six amazing waterslides, Rip Zone surfing wave, four-story mountain water-play structure, shallow children’s pool and activity pool, lazy river, relaxing hot tubs, mega-arcade, and pub with food and a full bar.

Themed as a snowy Swiss-Austrian Village, Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark maintains a constant temperature of 84 degrees making it the perfect playground for year-round enjoyment.

Half- and full-day waterpark passes are available from $22 to $45 and discounts are provided to resort lodging guests. Boyne Mountain Resort lodging packages with waterpark admission and Ski & Splash Packages are also available. Boyne Mountain’s Ski & Splash Package includes lodging, lift ticket, waterpark admission, hot breakfast, and tubing from $112 per person, per night.
