DOVER-FOXCROFT-- Corey Bjornson and Peter Boyer combined to rush for 322 yards and four touchdowns in leading the Foxcroft Ponies to a 48-0 victory over the Old Town Coyotes on Friday evening at Oakes field.
Bjornson took the ball on the Ponies first offensive play and rushed into the endzone from 38 yards out as the Ponies took a 6-0 lead with 8:50 remaining in the first quarter.
"That was our 32 dive,"Bjornson said. "Our linemen performed perfectly and did everything they had to do, and I just took it to the house."
Boyer and Hunter Law also had a rushing touchdown each in the first quarter as the Ponies jumped out to a 28-0 lead after the first 12 minutes of play.
Law also threw a 35 yard touchdown to Hunter Smith in the first quarter.
"Pete (Boyer) and Corey (Bjornson0 are some of the best running backs in the league. With the combination of our line we have a stellar running game,"Law said. 'We have Hunter Smith, Kolby (Kendall) and Ryan Wang who are some of the best receivers in the league. I make some bad passes and they cover my butt."
Law had his second QB sneak into the end-zone to give the Ponies a 34-0 halftime lead. The Ponies came into the game ready despite the poor weather conditions.
"We had a good week at practice,"Foxcroft coach Danny White said. "They were not going to be denied as far as getting the game started the way we wanted to start it."
The Ponies totaled 417 yards. Bjornson rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Boyer recorded 125 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
"With the job the offensive line was doing we were able to run inside, we were able to run outside."White said. "We were able to mix it up enough to keep them guessing."
Smith finished with 92 receiving yards and one touchdown on three catches. Law threw for 92 yards and one touchdown plus rushed for two touchdowns in his first game of the regular season. Law missed the season opener last week due to injury.
"We were rolling pretty good,"Law said. "The linemen did great, the running backs did great. I was eager to get back on the field."
The Ponies have outscored their opponents 98-13 in starting the season with two wins. Foxcroft will host Belfast next week.
White said, "We know the road gets tougher."
Braden Upshaw led the Coyotes with 49 yards on 21 carries. Old Town (1-1) will play at Waterville next week..
