Boy suspended for chewing pastry into shape of a gun

According to MSNBC, Fox News Baltimore, and a host of other media outlets, the latest case of OMG (oh my gosh, or perhaps it should be called “oh my guns”) an incident involving Josh Welch, a 7-year-old second grade student at Park Elementary School in the Brooklyn Park area of Baltimore, Maryland, made the news on Friday when the boy was suspended from school because his teacher thought that he had chewed eaten his strawberry tart – a piece of pastry – into the shape of a gun during food break-time.

In spite of the fact that Josh says he was trying to turn his pastry into something that was supposed to look like a mountain, he admitted that it accidentally turned out to look kind of like a gun. For his poor “artwork,” the young boy was suspended from school for two days.

Josh reportedly told the media that he could see that his teacher was mad when she saw what he had chewed his tart into, and he knew he was going to be in trouble for it.

Soon after the incident, Josh’s father was informed for the two-day suspension. Thereafter, a letter was sent home to other students’ parents explaining that one of the school’s students used food to make an “inappropriate gesture.”

Though the school refuses to comment on the incident, it has been learned that Josh suffers from ADHD but does quite well in art.

Another angle to the story is: Does Michelle Obama know this school is serving pastry at breakfast break time? With her childhood obesity initiative, it's doubtful that she would approve.
