The Boy Scouts of America declared last year that they were taking the initiate to ban any openly gay members from either volunteering as scout leaders or even for the kids themselves; and yet every couple of months or so, I find myself reporting about scout leaders who have been accused of engaging in sexual relations with children. And, here I thought that they were going to do the complete opposite of the military's opposition of the the 'Don't ask and Don't tell' policy. Of course, even if they are asking volunteers if they are gay or bisexual and they have pedophilia tendencies, I doubt very seriously that they would openly admit it unless of course they are active members of NAMBLA.
Michael Engler, 50 of Saint Charles County was arrested after he was accused of trying to set up a meeting with a child for the sole purposes of sexual relations. Engler is a volunteer with the BSA in Saint Charles. Reportedly, Engler attempted to persuade, induce, entice, and coerce a 14-year old child into having sex with him. Enger made the arrangements to meet with the child; however, it was part of a well-planned sting by the police.
