A boy took the Pope's skullcap right from the Holy Father's head while safely ensconced in the Pope's arms.
According to a Dec. 16, 2013 report by the Christian Post, Pope Francis was visiting the Santa Maria Institute, which is a Vatican dispensary that provides pediatric care, when he lifted a young boy into his arms.
When the boy grew bored, he entertained himself by removing the Pope's skullcap and toying with his hair. Seventy-six-year-old Pope Francis laughed and smiled at the boy's antics.
With his birthday just around the corner — he turns 77 this Tuesday — the Pope enjoyed birthday cake with the children at the facility.
Pope Francis's love of children is apparent. He has always given them his special attention, and he has remained unflappable in the face of their exuberance. For example, there was one particularly rambunctious young child who stole the show during one of the Pope's speeches by running about onstage. Pope Francis didn't even miss a beat.
When the boy took his skullcap, the Pope was similarly calm and good-natured. It's no wonder that Pope Francis was named Time's Person of the Year over Miley Cyrus and her omnipresent twerking. For more details about that honor, check out the video on the left side of the page.
