Richard “Ricky” Chekevdia, 6 was reported missing two years ago. In a custody battle case, the mother claimed the father was abusing the boy and took him into hiding. They lived in a small secret room in her mother’s house, a 6 x 12 foot room that was as high as a washing machine, AOL News reported with information released from the Associated Press.
The boy’s mother, Shannon Wilfong, 30 has been charged with felony child abduction. The grandmother, Diane Dobbs, 51 has been charged with aiding and abetting, according to AOL News.
The father is very happy to have him back. "Two years? You have no idea," Mike Chekevdia, 48 a former police officer said. "I've lost sleep. I've lost weight. I've gained weight. I wouldn't wish this on anybody," AOL News reported. “I had a firm believe that he was there, and yesterday it was confirmed.”
AOL News reported that the police said: "We let him out of the (patrol) car and he ran around like he'd never seen outdoors. It was actually very sad," Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Stan Diggs said. "He was very happy to be outside. He said he never goes outside."
