Boy killed by dad's plow: 6-year-old boy killed by dad’s plow while on scooter

The boy that was killed by his dad's plow is six-year-old Nathan Capponi who was playing on his scooter in the family's driveway while his father was clearing the snow. The boy was killed when his father backed up his large truck, did not see his son “zooming along on his two-wheeled cycle,” and accidentally hit the boy, reported MSTARS News on March 20, 2013.

After being hit by his dad’s plow, the six-year-old boy was transported immediately by ambulance to the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Shortly after his arrival at the hospital, however, Nathan was pronounced dead. The injuries sustained from the violent blow of the plow truck had been too severe.

Steve McCausland, a Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson, released a statement saying that the accident occurred at the family’s home on Quaker Ridge Road in Greene, Maine, about 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

"The boy was on a scooter playing in his driveway as his father was backing up the truck," said Steve McCausland in the statement.

The six-year-old boy’s father, 36-year-old Kevin Capponi, was clearing his driveway early Wednesday morning after a heavy snow storm had brought up to 15 inches of snow to parts on Maine on Tuesday.

He was almost done clearing his driveway when the terrible accident occurred.

A series -- and timing -- of events for which Shakespeare had one word; tragedy.
