News of a boy, 4, killed by dogs is creating buzz today on the Internet. The four-year-old visited the home of his aunt and uncle with his mother on Saturday night. During the visit, the little boy was eating ice cream, but the night turned deadly for him. My Fox Tampa Bay reported on this incident on July 20.

Logan Shepherd and his mother went for a visit to the home of his aunt and uncle on Saturday night. At about 10:30 p.m. that night, the little boy ate ice cream in the living room of the home while his mother spoke to his aunt, uncle, and his 15-year-old cousin in another part of the house. Their conversation ended when Logan's screams rang out. The adults ran out to find the boy, but by the time they made it to his location in the front yard, he was already dead.

Two pit bulls owned by the boy's uncle caused the death. The dogs managed to escape into the front yard from their cages, and they attacked the boy. His uncle locked up both dogs before his nephew and his mother arrived at the home. It is reported that the boy died within moments of the vicious attack. Officers patrolling in the area heard the screams coming from the home, and they stopped to investigate. When they arrived on scene, the officers found the two female dogs standing over the little boy.

Following the attack, authorities took the dogs into custody, and they were euthanized on Sunday afternoon. No charges were filed against the boy's uncle, and there are no previous reports on file about his two dogs. One neighbor, Crystal Huntley, spoke with Fox News about the attack, and she said the following:

"It hits you right in the heart because if anything happened to my kids I don't know what I would do. I couldn't even imagine what those parents are feeling right now. I have two kids of my own. I know I wouldn't even be able to stand if that was mine. I feel so sorry for the family. I can't believe that."

This is not the only attack on a young four-year-old by pit bulls in recent month. Another attack on a boy happened back in May in Delaware. The boy in that case was also visiting another residence with his mother. The mother spoke to her friend inside the home when her son was attacked in the front yard by three pit bills.

The boy's mother saw the dogs attacking her son through a window, and she ran out to save him. Two repairmen in the area assisted the woman in the rescue, but it was too late for the little boy. He was pronounced dead on the scene after paramedics arrived. His mother was also injured in the attack, and she was taken to the hospital for treatment. The boy knew the dogs, and he had been around them several times without any incident. It is not clear what caused this attack. Authorities took the dogs and put them down.

Another pit bull attack on Sunday ended the life of an infant, according to AJC.com. Several studies on fatal dog attacks have been conducted, and these studies do show that pit bulls are involved in a large number of the attacks, and the victims are usually under the age of ten. Stricter legislation has been put in place to help curb the problem. However, these children died. The problem is still one that needs to be handled.
