An adopted boy, 13, drives car across Europe after he ran away from his custodial parents. Reportedly, the 13-year-old child left his home in Italy in his father's Mercedes and drove more than 500 miles towards Poland. According to a Jan. 12 Yahoo! report, the boy escaped his household in attempt to find his birth parents and biological sister. However, he was stopped by authorities in Germany before he could finish his mission.
The boy was able to bypass toll booths and he also crossed two international borders during his two-day quest across northern Italy, Austria and half of Germany.
Eleonora Spadati, head of the Carabinieri Police in Montebelluna, had this to say about the boy's incredible journey,
“He looks like a 16-year-old, but still! He managed to fuel up and pass two borders. It’s just incredible,”
The boy left on Thursday with around 200 euros (around $270) and a passport in his possession. After an argument with his parents, the boy took his father's Mercedes. After they realized he might be on his way to see his biological family in Poland, they alerted authorities. The boy is now back with his adoptive parents and he has apologized for his actions.
