From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., Wednesday, July 30th, two very different forms of self expression will unite for one great cause.
Tonight at Arjon’s International Club on 8736 Tesoro Dr., a very special evening of “Boxing, Ballet, and Salsa” will be staged to raise revenue and awareness for the NABA, National Amputee Boxing Association.
In addition to some friendly sparring, there will be a dance contest with live music provided by RMM recording artist "La Combinacion Perfecta", as well as an exhibition of several different styles of dance from “Ballet Latino de SA“.
Prizes will awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place contestants, with all proceeds going to the NABA.
The NABA organization was founded by trainer Shaman R. Owensby to provide physical training for amputees through the specialization of the sweet science, further developing agility, coordination, and overall athleticism in a fun and competitive environment.
Since November of 2013, the special group has been providing veterans the opportunity to train, box and compete in the squared circle to increase mental and physical durability. Shaman's purpose is to assist veterans in the recovery of their physical strength, self-esteem and active pursuit of new fitness challenges with a positive outlook.
Through honor, optimism, partnership and education (H.O.P.E), N.A.B.A continues to serve those who have truly given for their country.
Tickets for the highly anticipated event will be $10 at the door, or by purchasing advanced tickets at the NABA website.
For more information about the singular event, please visit the National Amputee Boxing Association site, or contact the association headquarters at (210) 294-0252.
