In dog show parlance, a specialty is a show that is limited to one breed of dog. An independent specialty is a stand-alone show, though often several breed clubs will hold their specialties on the same day and at the same site and split expenses. A designated specialty, on the other hand, is when the breed's entry at an all-breed show is considered the specialty for the local breed club. Several Boxer clubs are holding independent or designated specialty shows during the month of July.
