The American Boxer Club has developed a breed health survey, and is asking all Boxer owners, past and present, to participate. The survey intends to provide information on the state of Boxer health and conditions that are common in the breed, to aid researchers and the Boxer community as a whole. The survey is completely anonymous.
About the Survey
The survey, created by Pat Mullen and reviwed and approved by the ABC Health and Research Committee and the ABC Board of Directors, is available on SurveyMonkey. Each survey covers one Boxer only; you can take the survey for as many Boxers as you own or have owned. Information on deceased dogs is valuable to determine shifts and trends in Boxer health issues.
Completing the Survey
Most of the survey questions are straightforward. Some ask for specific health test results, such as Doppler echocardiogram flow rates, VPCs found on a holter monitor, thryoid levels, and so on. If you've had your Boxer tested for these conditions, it will be helpful to have the most recent test results at hand before you begin the survey.
Who Should Take the Survey?
Anyone, in any country, who has ever owned a Boxer should complete this survey. The more dogs that are entered in the survey, the broader the picture of Boxer health will be. This information will allow Boxer Clubs and breeders around the world to get an idea of the most pressing issues in their country and their lines, and will help the American Boxer Charitable Foundation determine where their research funding will be best spent.
Please set aside 10-20 minutes to fill out this important survey, for the health of our beloved breed now and for generations to come.
