Box set of Beatles' Apple Records reissues includes rare digital tracks on disc

They haven't gotten much attention, but there are box sets available for both the new Apple Records reissues and the Beatles Red (1962-1966) and Blue (1967-1970) albums.

And the Apple Records box set will be especially attractive to collectors as it contains two bonus discs featuring all the tracks originally announced being available only as digital downloads.

The Apple Box Set, available in the U.S. on Oct. 25, also in the UK and Canada, contains 17 discs with all of the 14 albums in the reissue series and the single disc "Best of Apple Records" compilation. But also in the Apple Box Set are two extra discs with tracks from Badfinger, Jackie Lomax and Mary Hopkin that were originally announced as available by digital download only and that won't be on the regular CDs. You'll be able to get them on CD in this set.

Gosh, mo money mo money mo money. Even if I were to put this on my Xmas wish list this is not in my budget. Some of the tracks seem marginal to me and don't warrant buying the box.

Factor in the tracks making their CD debut on the new best of comp. that's included , plus the 2 CD set of exclusive extras and this set ends up offering more goodies than last year's Beatles boxes! Amazon.co.uk's price works out to about $11.50 per disc, so as an Apple fanatic this set is a must!

  • Steve Marinucci 1 year ago

Yes, for some very strange reason, the Amazon.uk price works out cheaper per disc than the U.S. price both for the boxed set and the individual CDs.

I'm not THAT much of an Apple fanatic to even be interested in this. I'll save my bucks for the Paul reissues.

Regarding the Red and Blue albums, isn't EMI/Apple aware that after those compilations were first issued, Got To Get You Into My Life was a top ten hit in America and therefore should be added to the collection? Do they even care? Other no brainers: Add I Saw Her Standing There, Taxman and I'm Only Sleeping. That way the Red album would have at least 15 songs on each disic instead of the measly 13. JON

Beatle reissues are known for not generally changing what's been there before. That's why the remastered CDs came out as they did, using the traditional mixes and without bonus tracks and why the Red and Blue albums are not being changed. Now, of course, the Apple CDs have bonus tracks. Go figure, but then, they're not the Beatles.

@JON Wasn't The Red / Blue set issued in 1973? And the "Got To Get You In My Life" single came out in 1976? That's when the "Rock -N-Roll album came out which had this song on it.

Thanks for the tip, Steve! I canceled the individual titles and ordered the box set from the US Amazon and the Red/Blue set from the Canadian Amazon.

I'm not sure how the math is working here but I'm getting $17.85 a disc when buying the apple box set when I divide it out. The singles albums are back down to $13.99 now (just looking at the Badfinger ones). They were up to as much as $18.99.

I'd love to have the bonus tracks but I'm not planning on buying all the discs anyway.

just got the apple box set. It's great I was going to trade in my old apple Cd's but thing I will keep them. Not all of the bonus tracks from the old set are on the new set.
