In a slow weekend at the box office, there is only one new movie in the top 5, but there was a bit of a suffle with the other four slots with one movie returning to the top 5.
Premiering at #1 this weekend is Warm Bodies (trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07s-cNFffDM) with $19.5 million over the weekend.
Dropping to the #2 spot is Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (clip 'Don't eat the candy': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nNYNxY60Vs) with $9.2 million this weekend. This brings the 2-week total to $34.4 million. The movie seems to be doing well over seas, bringing in $62.2 million at the foreign box office.
Moving up one spot to #3 is Silver Linings Playbook (clip 'Hemingway': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r-2okjhX5M) with $8.1 million. This brings the 12-week total to $80.3 million. The movie having taking a leaf from Lincoln has been having strong numbers at the box office over the last few weeks and it should help increase it's chances at winning at the Oscars at the end of the month.
Falling two spots to #4 is Mama with $6.7 million over the weekend, bringing it's 3-week total to $58.2 million. The movie is currently 6th highest grossing 'mother' film, but it doesn't look like it will have the juice to move any higher, needing $24 million to take Monster-in-law.
Rounding out the top 5 is the returning of Zero Dark Thirty (clip 'White Car': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wMsEUo7sxQ) with $5.3 million, bringing it's 7-week total to $77.7 million. The movie had been doing very well at the box office, but it's lack of success at the awards ceremonies so far may be hurting it's box office.
There were two other premieres this week. Bullet to the Head premiered in the #6 spot with $4.5 million and Stand-up Guys premiered in the #17 spot with $1.5 million.
There are two movies set to come out this week: The psycho-thriller Side Effects and the comedy Identity Theft. It's a strong possibility that both of these movies will make it to the top five and also that one of them might be #1.
