Jessica Chastain ruled the box office this weekend with her two movies taking the top two spots at the box office.
Chastain’s latest movie, the psycho-thriller Mama (trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2nwknMmvdc&feature=youtube_gdata_player) came in with $28.1 million over the weekend.
Coming in the #2 spot, is Chastain’s Golden Globe winning role in Zero Dark Thirty (clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOE7QC4gC0&feature=youtube_gdata_player) which brought in $17.6 million over the weekend. This brings the 5-week total to $55.9 million
Jumping up seven spots to the #3 spot with the nationwide release, and Jennifer Lawrence winning a Golden Globe, is Silver Linings Playbook (clip ‘Walk me home’: www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2nwknMmvdc&feature=youtube_gdata_player) with $11.3 million. This brings the 10-week total to $55.3 million.
Falling down one spot to #4 is Gangster Squad (clip ‘You wanted to talk to me’: www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4Kd7ygYyPl&feature=youtube_gdata_player) with $9.1 over the weekend. This brings its 2-week total to $32.2 million. The movie saw a 46.6% drop in the sales with its mediocre reviews.
Premiering in the #5 spot is the thriller Broken City (trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9IDV8FQp28&feature=youtube_gdata_player) with a solid $9 million over the weekend.
