Who's the baddest video game villain of them all? Guinness World Records put that question toward more than 5,000 readers in a survey for the new "Guinness World Records 2013 Gamer’s Edition" book. The result puts a long-time Mario nemesis at the top of the list followed by a cake-lying artificial intelligence.
Bowser from "Super Mario Bros." landed the top spot over 20% of the vote. His constant attempts at kidnapping Princess Peach earned him the moniker as the top video game villain of all time.
The runner-up in the voting was GLaDOS from Valve's "Portal" series. She lost by only a small amount according to Guiness but her performance as guide, narrator and villain made it a close call.
Joker from "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and "Batman: Arkham City" came in third thanks to his insane performance against the Dark Knight in the games.
Guiness ranked the top 50 villains in all with Ganon from The Legend of Zelda, Sephiroth from "Final Fantasy VII" and Inky from "PAC-MAN" making the Top 10. Other notables include Donkey Kong (#14), the Police in "Grand Theft Auto" (#24), and Shao Kahn (#41) from "Mortal Kombat".
