To help her “strike” a victory, Elizabeth Colbert-Busch invites supporters who can “spare” a campaign contribution to join her this Saturday at a most appropriate event.
Her fundraiser at The Alley (131 Columbus St in Charleston) includes brother Stephen Colbert, too.
A private reception that includes a book signing and photo with Stephen begins at 3 p.m. for those who contribute $1,000 ($2,600 for gold level status). A general reception at the bowling alley from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. costs $250 to attend. Contributors of the maximum $5,200 can stay for a private dinner that begins at 6:30 p.m.
This special election for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District begins with a primary on March 19, in which Colbert-Busch faces Ben Frasier. May 7 is the date for the final election.
Aiding promotion of this Saturday’s bowling alley event, the star of “The Colbert Report” spoke about it on last night’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” (See video.)
Colbert and Fallon also share a fundraising project for schools.
Visit Colbert-Busch's website for more information about Saturday's fundraiser.
On Sunday, Feb. 24, Colbert and Colbert-Busch will both be at a prayer breakfast at the ILA hall (1142 Morrison Rd. in Charleston). Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for the 8 a.m. service. Breakfast will be limited to the first 250 who arrive, but both will speak to everyone outside the building.
