Bowles to drive for MacDonald Motorsports

NASCAR Nationwide Series team, MacDonald Motorsports, announced on Thursday that Jason Bowles will drive the No. 81 entry for the team full-time in 2012 with sponsorship backing from American Majority.

"I'm super excited about the opportunity with American Majority Racing and MacDonald Motorsports," Bowles said. "I look forward to working with them all year and a successful 2012 season. I can't thank them enough for coming on board and the support they have shown so far leading up to Daytona. It's going to be an exciting year."

Bowles replaces Blake Koch, who made the move to Rick Ware Racing during the off-season.

Bowles is the 2009 K&N Pro Series West champion and the winner of the 2011 Toyota All-Star Showdown. He transitioned from open wheel and road racing to stock cars in 2006.

"I think Jason is going to be an excellent fit for our team and our sponsor, American Majority," car owner Randy MacDonald said. "He had an enormous amount of success running the K&N Pro Series and deserves a shot in Nationwide. I'm hoping to bring our team to the next level and compete for top-10 finishes this year with Jason, and that will be our goal on each race weekend."

Bowles competed in three Nationwide Series events in 2011, posting a best finish of 13th last August at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, driving a car for Rusty Wallace Inc.

John Monsam will serve as crew chief for Bowles on the No. 81 team. Monsam joined the No. 81 team during the 2011 race season.

"We have been working really hard this off-season to make our team as strong as possible for the 2012 season," Monsam said. "Bringing on Jason as the driver and American Majority as a sponsor is going to be big for our team, and I can't wait to get to Danytona to get this season started."
