Johnnie Englehart and Kelly Gold are two of the premier bowlers in the San Fernando Valley area and they have something else in common.
Both players recorded an extremely rare feat of scoring back-to-back perfect games in a sanctioned league.
Gold’s came in January of this year, and Englehart’s was rolled in October 2009. Gold (shown in photo) went 300-300-161 for her 761 series. Englehart went 300-300-209 for his 809 series.
Another commonality: Both feats were set at Canoga Park Bowl.
Said Englehart, known for his smooth bowling approach: “[Gold’s] a female version of me – as far as mechanics.”
Said Gold: “That’s the ultimate compliment for me. He’s awesome, incredible.”
Footnote: In July 2011, Englehart once again notched two perfect games in a series – scoring 300-269-300 for a truly stunning 869 series. That series also came at Canoga Park Bowl.
